Near downtown and the lake you'll find older homes — some dating to the late 1800s and early 1900s — with plaster walls, original woodwork, and tall baseboards. Farther out toward Birchwood and the Highway 61 corridor, the neighborhoods are postwar ramblers, split-levels, and newer two-stories.
The lake itself shapes exterior work here. West- and south-shore homes take on more humidity and weather off the water, so caulk joints, bare-wood priming, and coating choice matter more than they do a few miles inland.
For homes on or near the water, every exterior estimate includes a moisture and caulk-joint inspection of the lake-facing elevations, full caulk replacement, and oil-based spot priming on bare wood before two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald or Duration — the prep that keeps lakefront paint from peeling early.
