Credentials & standards

  • EPA Lead-Safe Certified

Required practices for homes built before 1978 — containment, HEPA cleanup, and documented verification.

  • Sherwin-Williams Pro Contractor

Account-verified professional contractor pricing and product specification support.

  • Painting Contractors Association member

Industry standards for surface prep, spec writing, and jobsite conduct.

  • Fully insured — $1M Hiscox

Minnesota does not license painting contractors, so proof of insurance is the meaningful protection to ask for.

  • OSHA-compliant jobsites

Ladder, lift, respirator, and SDS documentation practices followed on residential and commercial sites.

Service guarantees

The same standards apply to a single bedroom repaint and a 40-unit hallway refresh — the paperwork and scheduling around them differ.

Residential

  • Free, written, itemized estimate — no pressure, no same-day-only pricing games.
  • Two full coats as the standard spec, never one, unless your written estimate says otherwise.
  • Sherwin-Williams products specified for Minnesota's freeze/thaw and humidity swings.
  • Daily cleanup: furniture returned, floors protected, no overnight mess in living space.
  • Final walkthrough with you before we invoice — touch-ups happen on the spot.
  • 3-year written workmanship warranty handed to you with the final invoice.

Commercial & multi-family

  • Certificates of Insurance naming your management company, ownership entity, or landlord as certificate holder.
  • Additional-insured and waiver-of-subrogation requests reviewed before the contract is signed.
  • After-hours, weekend, and phased scheduling so tenants and operations aren't disrupted.
  • Photo-documented scope and progress reports for off-site owners and asset managers.
  • SDS sheets on site for every product, plus building check-in and badge protocol compliance.
  • Written workmanship warranty on the completed scope, with a named point of contact for callbacks.

Trust & credentials FAQ

Are you licensed and insured in Minnesota?

Minnesota does not issue a state painting contractor license, so there is no license to hold. What matters is insurance: Advanced Painting Services LLC carries $1,000,000 liability coverage through Hiscox Insurance Company Inc., currently in force through December 8, 2026, for interior and exterior painting operations. We email a current ACORD certificate on request before work begins.

What exactly does the 3-year warranty cover?

Defects in workmanship on surfaces we prepped and painted — peeling, blistering, flaking, and adhesion failures — for three full years from project completion. Drywall and texture work we performed is covered against finishing failures. Horizontal exterior surfaces (decks, railings, sills) and stained surfaces carry one year due to direct UV and moisture exposure. Full terms are on our warranty page.

Can you name our HOA or property management company as additional insured?

Yes. Send us the exact entity name and address and any contract insurance requirements, and we'll have Hiscox issue the certificate — including additional-insured or waiver-of-subrogation endorsements where the policy allows — before mobilization.

Is the warranty different for commercial work?

The coverage principle is the same — workmanship defects are ours to fix — but commercial scopes are warrantied against the written specification in your contract, which may set different coverage periods for high-traffic surfaces, floor coatings, and line striping. The term is stated in writing on the proposal before you sign.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my home?

No. The workmanship warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original purchaser at the property address on the work order. Remaining coverage does not pass to a new owner.

Who actually shows up — employees or subcontractors?

The owner. Advanced Painting Services is owner-operated with zero subcontractors, which is why insurance, warranty, and quality accountability all sit with one person you can reach directly at 763-290-2786.

Want the paperwork before the paint?

We'll send a current Certificate of Insurance and a copy of the written warranty with your free estimate — no obligation.
